1. Turtle With the Earth on Its Back

    Pen and Ink

    2013

There is an ancient myth that there is a turtle that carries the earth on its back. In my interpretation of this story, I  see the struggle that all living beings must live with. The struggle to change the course of history and put a ding in the universe.

ANyone with a knowledge of the Dutch Golden Age knows the following name

    Rembrandt Van Rijn

The master of the Dutch Baroque, his works are so numerous and prolific that to study Van Rijn is to study him alone for years. A working understanding of the Italian Renaissance is a study of many masters and movements. Van Rijn is similair in studying his whole works. Known for the glow his paintings had, his works seemed living. He is known as a compassionate person, a prolific painter, and one “devoid of vanity” in his mannerism and art. A true master of the Northern Baroque and the Dutch Golden Age of Art, today we salute you Remrandt, a master artist.

Also known for making his students do his work and not showing them how to properly keep separate the colors on their palettes, which is what many art historians think that “glow” actually is.
